The wedding weekend!

Thursday night, The Dairy Godmother (great name!) had BRAT NIGHT! On brat night you can get your oompah on with live accordian music, brats, saurkraut, potato salad, and sweet Wisconsin-style frozen custard.

The cherry blossom festival ended that weekend. The parade was from 10 to noon on April 8, on Constitution Avenue.

The National Zoo, is home of Tai Shan the toddler panda. Free tickets to see him are available online, though you can usually see him without tickets if he’s in the yard (i.e. whenever it is not raining).

Always fun

(some items that are overlooked in the tourist guidebooks)

The National Museum of Health and Medicine. Sounds boring, but has the bullet that killed Lincoln, a giant hairball, and miscellaneous pathological specimens (a.k.a. diseased body parts). You can even learn something there.

The Kennedy Center has free performances every day at 6:00. The rooftop terrace has amazing views of the city and the river (and cherry blossoms!)

Pope John Paul Cultural Center and Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The first has miscellanous exhibits about world religions, and Catholicism in particular. The latter has amazing architecture, and hosts concerts, as well as daily masses.
